Winner of the 2017 Tshwane Open Junior Tournament, Neil RetiefThe second Tshwane Junior Open Tournament takes place on Sunday 25 March, with 95 young golfers showing their mettle at the Irene Country Club.

The tournament is a partnership between the City of Tshwane, the South African Golf Development Board and Gauteng North Golf Union and plays an important part in supporting golf development.

Through this partnership all our young golfers – including those from disadvantaged backgrounds – get the opportunity to take part in a sport traditionally regarded as the preserve of the wealthy.

The inaugural tournment was won by local youngster Neil Retief.

The junior golf development programme is a feeder system into the mainstream, professional golf sector.

In fact, the 2015 Tshwane Open champion, George Coetzee, came out of the South African golf development process.

The City of Tshwane looks forward to the day one of our local youngsters becomes a South African golfing champion.

Entrance to the tournament is free so everyone will be able to come on over and watch our future champions in action.
