 The international golfing event brings in millions of rands in revenue The international golfing event brings in millions of rands in revenue as golfers, their families and their fans book into local accommodation, eat at local restaurants and enjoy local entertainment. Many visitors extend their stay to visit local attractions.

In its first four years the Tshwane Open has directly and indirectly generated a total of R512-million to the National Economy of South Africa and R274-million within the local economy of Tshwane.

In addition, the event gets extensive international television coverage – raising the profile of the host city globally.

Since its inception the event generated over $73-million (just over R951-million) worth of marketing exposure value for the City of Tshwane, the Event and Sponsors. The event was broadcast for a cumulative total of nearly 6 700 hours.

In 2016 the Tshwane Open was broadcast live on SuperSport over four days. That feed was distributed globally and reached more than 217-million households. This year the broadcast will go out to 41 broadcasters in 150 countries and has the potential to reach over 400-million households.

The Tshwane Open has created and sustained an annual equivalent of more than 1 050 jobs since 2013.

Almost 10 500 tickets for the tournament were sold over a four year period.
